Nutrition
Malnutrition is one of the main consequences of community and household instability caused by country and regional conflict. In the last ten years, food production has been negatively impacted by climate- related shocks making it hard for households to access food with resultant malnutrition.
In response, HIRDA has established a nutrition program supported by UNICEF to reduce child mortality associated with acute malnutrition in the Gedo region of Somalia. In the Bardera district, our nutrition program targets severely malnourished individuals, including children under five years of age, pregnant and lactating mothers, and the elderly.
